John Cage Uncaged
BBC
Barbican, 16-18 January 2004
These seven programs contain about ten hours of music by John Cage, his predecessors and his
contemporaries, and two hours of commentary and documentation. (Don't just go straight to the music; the latter are an important historical document and are not to be missed!) To hear them all again has been deeply moving—they include so many
musicians that I had worked with during the last quarter of the 20th
century. Cage’s admonition to live in the present moment is salutary in an age in
which every moment may be our last.
